Song Sparrow

Bad Hair day for this fellow on Lake Erie at the Marble Head Lighthouse in Northern Ohio.

This photo was taken at a pull-off for a scenic outlook! I ended up looking in the wrong direction at the wrong end of the parking lot. I am not sure at the other end I could have seen any farther down the canyon! Lots of snow and reduced visibility. This was on the road from Tennessee to North Carolina on Route #26.

Somehow these ponies escaped and ran down the road. I was shocked to see this Amish father ands son each with a pony and one running loose. Not sure if only one got out and they rode the others to go find them or what! It amused me to see them coming down the snow covered road.

I dropped off an Amish family at their relative’s place for church, driving on bare gravel road. Seven hours later it had turned into a “Winter Wonderland” with snow and deep buggy tire tracks. I did make it home safely.

This Amish Mother and daughter decided to return and walk home later. When they had walked to church it had been a “balmy” 39 degrees F, but by noon things had changed, with a fierce west wind.

With my tele lens and the speed of the girl, this photo only captured the lady! Stay warm!

These Amish youth are enjoying this cold weather to get some ice skating in. On some ponds they also play ice hockey. I think this photo shows them playing a game, where they tag people on the other team, and they can only be released when you sneak behind the lines and tag them. This cold spell lasted almost 4 weeks. I think the skating ended several days ago. It is pouring “cats and dogs” today. Forecast is for some freezing rain, which I hope doesn’t happen.
