This was taken at Sippo Lake, in Canton, with a 300mm lens and a Tamron 2x extender. I have been wanting to get a good photo of these birds, but haven’t been successful! I really had to stretch this shot digitally, so somewhat grainy, also added some medium HDR, so not a super photo, but it shows the bird! tc

This loon, I wonder, it looks a lot like a loon species that sometimes hibernates here in Sweden. Gavia immer is its Latin name. Is it the same as yours?

It is the same! And I love to hear their call sounding out over the calm lakes! This was very common in Northwest Ontario, where we lived for 7.5 years. I think they are just now stopping in Ohio in their migration to the North!
