A MAIN ROAD TOOK ON THIS LOOK IN THE EARLY AFTERNOON OF the Pahela Baishakh celebrations. The people on the left side were either leaving Ramna Park or Dhaka University. Celebration had started at sunrise!

THESE GIRLS ARE ENJOYING this mini ferris wheel which operates only with human force. They are hanging on tightly! I also rode one of these and it was an enjoyable ride.
PAHELA BAISHAKH, the first day of the Bangla New Year is the biggest holiday for Bangladesh. These boys wanted their photo taken.

PAHELA BAISHAKH (Bengali New Year – 1417), ( was celebrated in Dhaka. The festivities started at sunrise. I first played a football match and then headed to Ramna Park, followed by Dhaka University. At Ramna Park this group of Drama Club members welcomed me into their tent, where I enjoyed Panta Bhat (rice soaked in water) with hilsha fry (national fish), and alu chop. They helped to make it a special day for me.
