FOURTIETH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATIION

I wanted to celebrate our 40th anniv. with the footballers I play with on weekends so I had a special meal ordered for them for after our game.  They also came with this cake.

Tilted so you could read the words without standing on your head!

Day 1

DRINKING TEA

I decided to interrupt the Nepal photos with this photo my friend took of me sipping Bengali tea during a photo shoot in Old Dhaka.  A bus driver who ran the route from Holmes Co., Ohio to Sarasota, Fl. was discussing me with my Mom in Florida.  He said it is the fellow who looks out over the top of his glasses.  I guess he was right!  I’d like to thank my friend Matthias, who dropped this photo onto my desktop while I was in Nepal.

Day 152

BANANA LASSI

Here I am enjoying a banana lassi.

Refreshing drink.

FRESHLY SQUEEZED Orange/Pineapple Juice.  Here is this street vendor in Thamel, Kathmandu, Nepal filling a glass with juice.

Cool refreshing drink!

Day 134

WATERMELON
The Bengalis are one of the people groups who do such a great job of arranging their foods in an attractive way. In Old Dhaka I spied this watermelon cut and ready for hot, hungry pedestrians passing by, to indulge in.

Day 133

PIAJU a tasty treat I saw being prepared in Old Dhaka. It is made with onions and lentils (dal). I’m having fits because I can’t see what I am typing until it is uploaded!

Day 117

SUPER TASTY MEAL

Fish, leafy vegetable, eggs were served during my visit to Halim’s house in the Mohammadia Housing area.  There was also dal (lentil soup) and two more kinds of fish.  It was the best Rui Mach (Bengali name for the fish) I had ever had in Bangladesh.

Day 109

CHILI PEPPERS

There may be  a shortage of electricity in Bangladesh, but not a shortage of these essential peppers.  No one makes better spicy curries than the Bengalis.

Day 99

GRACIOUS HOSTESS

This nice lady, Rehanna, invited us to her home on February 6 to enjoy a great meal of curried chicken and rice, etc.  This week the contents of her home were destroyed by fire.  Her one-room house had a cement floor and brick walls so it will take less to rebuild than many of the homes.

Day 91

BEFORE HAIRCUT

On Thursday, Austin, Marita, Jim (Marita’s brother) and his wife, Normi went to Mymensingh for a day trip.  Therefore, our grandsons spent the day with us, from 5:30 am to 10 pm.  Marita had said I could take them to the barber.  I told them that ever since I had taken them to the barber last June, he asks me where they are, when I get a haircut.  Well here is a series of photos featuring Jensen, the oldest grandson.
