Day 224

HALIM’S FATHER reminds me of my Grandfathers with the white beard.  Maybe I enjoy foreign travel because of my Grandfathers’ influence.  My paternal Grandfather traveled to Europe on the “Queen Elizabeth” to visit the land where his ancestors came from.  My maternal Grandfather traveled to Germany on a cattleboat, which was delivering a heifer he had donated to the post-war rebuilding efforts.

REFRESHING DRINKS for my grandsons.  I just returned from a local store with a bag of Diet Pepsi and water.  Ricky, the awesome Remian Raider’s goalie wonders if he could have a drink.  I was more than glad to share with him.  My grandsons and I spent almost five at this football tournament in Banani.  They had a great time.

Cold drinks for a hot day! Riley, Myself, and Ricky

TORRENTIAL DOWNPOUR causes flooding in Dhaka on Tuesday as 11.4 inches of rain fell in six hours breaking a sixty-year-old record.

Here is my friend, Halim in front of his small room which had water in it at least a foot above the entrance.  The next photo is of a cycle trying to decide whether to go through a water-logged intersection.  I saw later that he backed up and due to the traffic-jam returned via the sidewalk.  He did use his horn so I could get out of his way.  Many rickshaws and cycles took to the sidewalks to bypass the jams.  The “Daily Star” blames clogged drains and filled up canals for the waterlogging (flooding).  Oh by the way, I didn’t crop the heads off of the cycle photo, they were never on the photo.

Day 207

MONSOON RAINS are here.  Here are two fellows who used to play with the Remian Raiders waiting between games, oblivious to the rain.  It is refreshing after the heat.

Enjoying the rain!

Day 206

SOLAR ECLIPSE?  I decided to use what limited Photoshop skills I have and see what I get by combining two shots from a Bengal Bay beach sunset and the full moon over Joypara.  Enjoy!
