I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THESE STRAWBERRIES AT THIS TIME OF YEAR! They let me taste me one, and I immediately bought a small pack to take back for Alice to taste as well. We are enjoying our stay at the Hotel Encounter Nepal hotel. The tub and hot water are a special treat for my wife, Alice!

HAPPY 42ND ANNIVERSARY TODAY FOR Alice, my wonderful wife and I. She has been a faithful comrade throughout life. Whether hiking in Nepal, Colorado, Arizona or Bali she has been a trooper navigating canyons, volcanoes, and mountains! Married life, in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Ontario, Ohio and Bangladesh! I thank God for giving me such a wonderful companion. I met her on September 18, 1966 in beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, and married her 1,000 days later!!

Celebrating our 40th anniversary!
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY TO MY SWEETHEART! We celebrated our first Valentine’s Day together in 1967. This photo was taken in Pokhara, Nepal. We had just returned from a 4 day trek in the Annapurna range, climbing to Poon Hill and back. We had to do a visa run and used this opportunity to go to Nepal and celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.
SANTOSHI, my adopted Nepali daughter. She did a great job of making us feel at home. She works in the office of the “Nepal EnvironmentalTreks and Expedition, LTD. They arranged for our memorable trekking experience in the foothills of the Himalayas. These are photos she took just recently when she visited Pokhara, the place we stayed at before and after our hiking.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANTOSHI KHAREL, my Nepali daughter!!! Hope you had a very special day. We got to know Santoshi, who worked in the office that arranged our six-day trekking experience in the Annapurna Range.

MOMOS
These were one of our favorite treats during our Nepal visit. Filled with cabbage, etc.

CORNBREAD – Nepali style!
This morning I went to a local hotel (restaurant) and had a great breakfast of bhaji (spicy veg) and nan-ruti (one kind of Bengali bread) for 20 tk (30 cents U.S.D). I decided to show you the cornbread as they fix it in Nepal. This piece of bread, made with corn meal, is hollow. and is quite tasty.

SARA & REGINA, friends we met on the Annapurna trail, at a rest stop between Pokhara and Kathmandu, and again later in Kathmandu.

PENCIL TRICKS
I stopped at this boy’s home and gave all the children a pencil. This young lad found many things to do with his pencil. Here he is sticking it up his nose! Little boys are creative aren’t they!

DWELLING ON HILLSIDE ON A TRAIL IN THE ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT.

DRAGONFLY
I spied this dragonfly as we were trekking.

NEPALI LADY
This lady was walking down the path beside where we were taking a break. I had just given some children some pencils. Her and her friend kind of stopped and hung around. Our guide then told me that they also want a pencil. They stayed around awhile and she enjoyed the little butt of a cigarette she had left. It was down to 1/3 inch but when she dropped it, she picked it up and was going to enjoy it to the end!
