IT WAS SPECIAL TO HAVE FRIENDS ARRIVE IN DHAKA FOR A VISIT!

THIS WAS  A PHOTO FROM THE STREET TOWARD OUR HOTEL IN THAMEL.  IT REMINDS ME OF HOW COLD IT WAS, OF COURSE COMPARED TO BANGLADESH.  ACTUALLY IT WAS ABOUT THE SAME AS COLD RECORDS WERE BEING BROKEN IN BANGLADESH. It’s nice to be back home but I miss it that our AC doesn’t put out heat like the one did in our hotel in Nepal!

Winter is here!

THIS WAS MY LAST MORNING WALK IN THAMEL, SINCE WE HAD AN AFTERNOON FLIGHT. AS YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED I AM POSTING TO CATCH UP FOR THE FIRST DAYS OF 2013. I HAVEN’T COME UP WITH A BETTER IDEA THAN TO POST THE EQUIVALENT OF ONE POST PER DAY PER YEAR!

WE SPENT JANUARY 1 IN THAMEL, KATHMANDU, NEPAL! IT WAS A NIPPY 38 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT EARLY IN THE MORNING AND 63 DEGREES BY 4 PM. I ALSO ENJOYED MY DAILY EARLY MORNING CUP OF TEA.

I was going to post the top 30 or so but didn’t have the internet capabilities to complete in time. These are two of my favorites.  If anyone has any comments on what they would like to see in my blog in 2013, including ways to improve my posts please comment.

Happy New Year!

SULTANA WANTED ME TO SEE HER GRANDCHILD.  I THEN WANTED A PHOTO OF THE TWO OF THEM.

OUR HOUSE-HELPER’S MOTHER HAS A ONE-ROOM DWELLING, WHICH SHE SHARES WITH HER SON, DAUGHTER-IN-LAW AND THEIR TWO DAUGHTERS.  Much of  their cooking and serving containers are stored under the bed.  This is in one of the many Bihari camps in Bangladesh.  The fresh lavender paint gives the room a nice look.

I WAS SURPRISED TO SEE THESE STRAWBERRIES AT THIS TIME OF YEAR!  They let me taste me one, and I immediately bought a small pack to take back for Alice to taste as well.  We are enjoying our stay at the Hotel Encounter Nepal hotel.  The tub and hot water are a special treat for my wife, Alice!

THIS WAS A SHOT I COULDN’T RESIST AS WE PASSED PHILIPP’S RICKSHAW.  He should be enjoying Christmas with his family in Switzerland!

I COULDN’T RESIST SLIPPING THIS EXTRA BLOG SINCE I DO HAVE INTERNET ACCESS HERE IN OUR ROOM.

We went to this coffee since it had Wi-Fi!  That day it seemed to have a poor connection, but at least I could recharge my laptop battery!  So much for my skills at photography!  In the photo of me, my face is in focus.  In the photo of Alice her face is not in focus! Sorry, folks, maybe next time.
