THIS BENGALI LADY POSED FOR ME as I was returning from a trip to Farmgate on Victory Day to get my glasses adjusted. On 16 Dec 2011 Bangladesh celebrated the 40th anniversary of its victory against Pakistani troops in the 1971 Liberation War.

They are standing in the doorway of Shaheen’s one-room dwelling in one of the many Bihari camps in Dhaka. Sultan was dressed up to celebrate the festival, Muharram. The festival commemorates the martyrdom of the prophet Mohammed’s grandson- Hazrat Imam Hussein.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OUR FRIENDS! We are having a relaxing day here in Bali, Indonesia, reading books, editing photos, taking photos, enjoying good food, etc. Photos were taken at airport in Kuala Lumpur on our way from the U.S. A. to Dhaka in September.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING DAY to all my American friends. I know my Canadian friends have long ago digested their Thanksgiving meals! I know these aren’t turkeys, but turkeys are expensive in Bangladesh. I think they might cost $70! I haven’t checked lately, and my memory isn’t what it used to be. Hopefully I’m not exaggerating! These are some ducks at Halim’s place. Today us fellows on the team are cooking the meal for the ladies. The menu is a secret, so I won’t disclose it until later! Have a great day!
