Day 271

LAUNDRY GETS WET AGAIN!  RAIN, RAIN, AND MORE RAIN

We have had some rain almost every day for ten days!  This lady was on the rooftop and caught me taking a photo, so he went into the “posed” mode!  Street photography is challenging in this country.  I love the vivid colors the women wear!

Rescuing the Laundry! Too late!

Day 268

FOOTBALL PLAYING resumes with the end of Ramadan and the Ramadan Eid. Here I am guarding the goal which is typically my position on Friday and Saturday mornings.  It was nice to see the guys again after a five week break.

I thank either Dan or Frieda Mast for this photo taken last Winter.

Day 258

ALICE’S KITCHEN where many kinds of food are prepared.  Mashed potatoes and gravy.  Chicken, beef and fish curries.  Chapatis, bread, muffins, french pizzas, kitchuri, and cheese omeletes.  Typically our helper cooks on Monday and Alice or I cook the rest of the days.  My specialty would be the breakfast omelets, or bringing in dahl, baji, and nan-ruti from a local hotel (restaurant) for breakfast.  I forgot to  mention that this is the hottest room in the house.  In many climates, this is where people would huddle to get warm, but those days would be rare here!!

Day 255

OUR APARTMENT as seen upon entering the door.  This is especially for Cindy and Charles.   The dining room on the left.  The window of dining room is to the vent that runs the full heighth of our 9 floor apartment building.  Down the hallway on the right you see my computer desk, etc.  On the right you see a plant just at the end of the living room, and then the door to the kitchen next on the right.  At the end of the hallway there is a bedroom to the left and the right.

Day 244

OUR LIVING ROOM (Boshen Gor) which is just inside and to the right of our apartment entrance.  Teresa Miller from Colorado, and Margaret Byler from Viriginia are visiting for a week.  She is Matthias and Ellis’ cousin.

Day 222

LAUNDRY ON ROOFTOP of a Party Place at the end of our street (where they host wedding receptions, parties, etc.).

Air-drying!

Day 195

MUTTON CURRY, a very tasty Bengali dish was prepared by my friend’s (fellow footballer) Mother for all the football players to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.  We ate this along with porotas and a special cake.  Halim’s Mother is a wonderful cook.  I’ve had two meals in their home, and he just called last night and wants me to come sometime and bring my wife.

Taking a break.

Day 189

PHOTO PAYBACKS

As I took a photo of this street black-topper, he whipped out his phone from somewhere in his lungi and decided to take a picture of me.

KITCHEN of the neighbor of Day 182

I doubt whether this recession has hit him yet, though the price of rice went up a bit.

Day 182

STREET DWELLER neighbor

Notice this fellows feet sticking out of his shelter.  I’m not sure what put this fellow on the street.  He has lived here for a long time.  Every so often I buy him breakfast.  One day I bought him a bag of rice.  Later I saw him filling plastic bottles with the rice.  I noticed that every grain he spilled was picked up to be used.  I had wondered how he would survive Cyclone Sidr in 2007, but when the storm calmed I saw that he and his shelter were ok.
