MONSOON RAINS bring flooding to Dhaka’s city streets. I was in waist deep water getting some of my photos today. Rains from 1-7 AM dropped 11.4 inches (290 mm) of rain for a 60 year record for a six hour period.

CLOWN BETEL NUT HAWKER chuga-lugging what was left of Matthias’ Diet Pepsi. He saw it in Matthias’ hand and thought he had to have it. In the second photo you see the fizz escaping. He was a clown and sure distracted people from the game. Our team lost 3-2 in this semi-final game of the tournament! 😦

MONSOON RAINS are here. Here are two fellows who used to play with the Remian Raiders waiting between games, oblivious to the rain. It is refreshing after the heat.

SOLAR ECLIPSE? I decided to use what limited Photoshop skills I have and see what I get by combining two shots from a Bengal Bay beach sunset and the full moon over Joypara. Enjoy!

SOLAR ECLIPSE of July 22, 2009 coming to an end. After going to a local “hotel” for a Bengali breakfast of Dal and Nan Ruti, I took one more shot of the solar eclipse as I headed down the street. It was probably the last chance to see before the clouds took over.

SOLAR ECLIPSE over Dhaka, Bangladesh
I decided not to take the 10 hour bus ride yesterday to be in Northern Bangladesh to see the total eclipse, so here is one of my photos of the partial eclipse from the rooftop of our apartment building.

NICE HEAD SHOT by a teammate while Masum (red jersey) looks on. I play with these fellows early on Friday and Saturday morning. We have a match at 4:15 at the TNT field. If we win we are in the semi-finals.

VEGETABLES on street vendor’s Van Gari. I haven’t tried hurrying to the street from our 9th floor apartment to buy vegetables when I hear them yelling “Torkari!” “Torkari” is curried food. These vegetables are cooked with whatever kind of curry is being prepared. I have however bought some on the street if I see them when I am walking.
