TRAFFIC JAM
I was coming home on a rickshaw. Half-way home I saw a traffic jam so I decided to get off and walk. This is how it looked on Asad Avenue after I had walked five minutes. I knew I had made the right decision. I made it home in time for my tutor. In this area there is a big jam because parents or guardians are taking their children to school. The small streets just can’t handle this much traffic.

BREAKTIME
Taking a break from carrying water?

TUPI
This young man is on his way to the mosque for prayers.

FAMILY sitting on bench the evening.

JOYPARA LADY
This is a lady I met on the path in the Joypara village.

SWEATING
This young boy was helping to push this load down the street on a vangari in the middle of a traffic jam. My rickshaw wallah told him I was taking his photo so he turned around and gave me a big smile. It was a pleasure to see him working instead of on a street corner begging.

ORANGE
This photo was taken while sitting on a rickshaw in a traffic jam on the way to Pizza Hut. One of the waiters was a college student I have played soccer with. He generously gave Alice and I a free cup of coffee.

AFTER DINNER
(L to R) Rehanna, Alice, Dolly (Rehanna’s dau.) and Dustin.
Rehanna and Dolly escorted us to the street to get transportation to travel to our section of the city. They were so glad that we had come to their home to enjoy a meal, meet the family, and visit. In this culture relationships are so much more valuable than things. We are more than glad to help donate clothes, etc. to help families of this housing area to try and get their lives back together after the tragic fire that destroyed many of their homes. It is blessing that no one lost their life in the fire. Ten were injured, including one fireman.

JANATA HOUSING in which 100 homes were destroyed on Monday by fire. This is Alice and Dustin. We were here at the invitation of the lady who does cleaning and cooking at Dustin’s office. She invited us for a meal, and to meet her family. Her sister’s house was also destroyed. Her house was one that was destroyed!

HOMEWARD BOUND
After the haircuts we got on a rickshaw and headed home. After taking the photo, I actually sat up behind Jensen on the back of the seat.

WATERMELON
Watermelon season is beginning here in Bangladesh.
