Day 10

Here in Dhaka many Biharis were observing this festival near the Towne Hall Bazaar.

I woke up with a text Friday morning from the captain informing me that there will be a celebration party at the Star Kabab.  It was a nice celebration.  We also had a birthday cake for our goalie, Ricky.  He did a great job during the tournament.

Day 8

What a nerve-wracking game.  We scored in the first ten minutes.  There were 2 – 35 minute halves.   The other team scored in the last five minutes, but it didn’t count because of a penalty before the shot.  One fellow complained and got a yellow card!  The guys held them and after 70 minutes of play we led 1-0 and were the champions.  It is called the underground league!  There were supposed to be 16 teams but 6 dropped out.  8 of the 10 teams went into the quarter finals and the rest is history.  Bear with me.  I trust tomorrow will not be a football photo!

Day 7

One week is gone of this New Year.   Today was  a special day for the Remian Raiders which I coach.  They will be in the finals tomorrow.  They had a shoot-0ut since at the end of the game it was 0-0.  They shot second and made all of their shots winning the shoot-out 4-1.

Day 6

Tournament continued this afternoon.  The team I am coaching  lost 2-0 in the first game and for the next game the other team didn’t show, so tomorrow it is on to the quarter-finals.

Day 5

Another day is almost finished.  Last night the temp dipped to 61 degrees F and got up to 72 today.  We had the second game of our tourmament this afternoon with the best team in our division.  We lost 3-2.  I wasn’t going to post football(soccer) photos today but I couldn’t resist these two photos.

Day 4

I started the day by going to a local hotel (restaurant) and ordering take-out.  I ordered dahl (lentils), badji(vegetables and potatoes)  and nan ruti(flat bread).  I ordered extra so I could have the left-overs for lunch.  I edited some photos from last night’s engagement party.   Late afternoon the footbal (soccer) team I coach had their first game in a tournament.  They won 3-1.  Here are some of the photos I took.
