SUPER TASTY MEAL
Fish, leafy vegetable, eggs were served during my visit to Halim’s house in the Mohammadia Housing area. There was also dal (lentil soup) and two more kinds of fish. It was the best Rui Mach (Bengali name for the fish) I had ever had in Bangladesh.

HALIM a 29 yr-old young man I play football with. He invited me to his teastand and house today. I had an enjoyable six hours with him. Here he is giving me a cup of tea.

CHILI PEPPERS
There may be a shortage of electricity in Bangladesh, but not a shortage of these essential peppers. No one makes better spicy curries than the Bengalis.

GRACIOUS HOSTESS
This nice lady, Rehanna, invited us to her home on February 6 to enjoy a great meal of curried chicken and rice, etc. This week the contents of her home were destroyed by fire. Her one-room house had a cement floor and brick walls so it will take less to rebuild than many of the homes.

BEFORE HAIRCUT
On Thursday, Austin, Marita, Jim (Marita’s brother) and his wife, Normi went to Mymensingh for a day trip. Therefore, our grandsons spent the day with us, from 5:30 am to 10 pm. Marita had said I could take them to the barber. I told them that ever since I had taken them to the barber last June, he asks me where they are, when I get a haircut. Well here is a series of photos featuring Jensen, the oldest grandson.

WATERMELON
Watermelon season is beginning here in Bangladesh.

TEA in the making
Sugar on the right, and Sweetened Condensed Milk being measured for my cup of tea. The Bengalis know how to make a super cup of tea!!!

TEA STAND
Here is where I bought a cup of tea 5 days per week from November ’07 until August ’08. My wife thought I shouldn’t to prevent sickness. Somehow I never got sick even though I bought close to 200 cups of tea here. The cups are rinsed out with water before being used again!

WAFFLES
Waffles seemed to be quite available in Thailand.

THAI LADY
This Thai lady made me a terrific papaya salad, which included cashews, etc. Very tasty. It was a delicacy I had enjoyed in 2000 and was anxious to try again.

LICKING COOKIE FROSTING!
This young guy took apart one of Alice’s chocolate mint sandwich cookie and enjoyed licking the icing!

Little boy loving the icing in the center of this cookie.
