On Eid day this gentleman is trying to get this repair shop to open so he can get his motorcycle repaired.

Will it get repaired on Eid Day?

This lady surely has seen many holidays come and go.

She didn’t mind having a photo taken!

HERE ARE SOME EXAMPLES!

Horns or Fountains!

Homeward Bound!

I better mention that today is my birthday, so I’m starting my 65th year!

WE WERE SCHEDULED FOR 4 AM TO LEAVE ON THE MOTORCYCLES TO CATCH THE SUNRISE FURTHER DOWN THE BEACH! We didn’t quite get left on time!  The sunrises and sunsets were a big item in choosing where to go on this TTL Safari.

The name Kuakata originated from the word ‘Kua’-the Bengali word for “Well” which was dug on the sea shore by the early Rakhine settlers in quest of collecting drinking water, who landed on Kuakata coast in the eighteenth century after being expelled from Arakan (Myanmar) by the Mughals.[3]Afterwards, it has become a tradition of digging Well in the neighborhoods of Rakhaine tribes for water.

Kuakata offers a full view of the sunrise and sunset from the same white sandy beach in the water of the Bay of Bengal.

Locally known as Shagor Kannya (Daughter of the Sea), the long strip of dark, marbled sand stretches for about 30 km. The long and wide beach at Kuakata has a typical natural setting. This sandy beach has gentle slopes into the Bay of Bengal. Kuakata is also a sanctuary for migratory winter birds.

Evidence of God’s Handiwork and Artistic Ability!

Let us dump sadness, jump with happiness,
shun fear and run with courage in heart in this new year.
Happy Pohela Boishakh.
I thought this photo of spices would be great to typify the food and Bengali culture!

Day 349

TODAY WAS A  BUSY DAY DELIVERING CINNAMON ROLL CHRISTMAS WREATHS TO OUR NEIGHBORS.   I started at 11:30 am and took an hour off for supper and stopped at 7:15 pm.  I was unable to deliver to 3 of the 31 apartments, until Friday. Then I headed out to deliver some more to our U.S. friends.  I kept one rickshaw wallah busy for over an hour with this last venture.  I had started the day at 5 am, with a morning walk, and then an hour of football and some shopping, so I was ready to drop into bed.
