Day 123

DITCH DIGGING FOREMAN!  This fellow was motioning to me that he wanted some money to buy some food with.  Even though he has a job he thought maybe I would help him out!

Day 117

NORTH END COFFEE ROASTERS IS WHERE my friend Ellis and I had coffee and some delicious brownies.  The owner is Rick Hubbard who is a friend of my son, Austin.  The coffee shop is located at KHA-47-1 Pragati Sharani Shahzadpur, North Badda, across from UITS not far from the U.S. Embassy.  Let me know if you like the Color or B & W version or Sepia!

B & W

RICKSHAW WALLAH DURING THE HEAT OF THE DAY takes a rest!

Day 108

FATHER AND SON ENJOYING PAHELA BOISHAKH at the Chandrima Uddan.

Day 107

ON PAHELA BAISHAKH NOT EVERYONE was dressed in red and other bright colors.

This woman and her son were scavenging for recyclable items to sell.  When he saw me talking a photo he quick told her, so she turned around and faced me.

This man probably was dressed in his finest, since that is probably he owned.  I suppose it kept him warm at night and kept the sun from beating on his body during the day.  He probably thought the New Year’s Day celebrators might share with him!

Day 100

BENGALI GENTLEMAN GETTING CAUGHT UP on the daily news.  This method saves 10 tk (15 cents) per day.  He would save $3558.75 in 65 years plus interest! This was one of the sights I saw during my 5k walk yesterday.  It’s not any cooler today, and it feels like the dog days of summer, as we say it in Iowa.  It also feels like this year is racing on, noticing this is the 100th day of this year.

Day 313

BENGALI WORKER IN TEA GARDENS near Moulovibazar, Bangladesh.

Day 308

BENGALI GENTLEMAN ON A Rickshaw, leaving Old Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Day 306

BENGALI GENTLEMAN NEAR Old Dhaka, Bangladesh

Day 304

ELDERLY BENGALI GENTLEMAN IN OLD DHAKA, Bangladesh during Durga Puja.

Day 300

BOATSMAN ON THE BURIGANGA AT THE SADARGHAT BOAT TERMINAL, OLD DHAKA, Dhaka, Bangladesh.  Even though it was raining they wanted us to go for a river down the river!  A big plastic tarp was a part of the bargain.  Wow, I can’t believe there are only 65 days left in 2010!

Day 297

OLDER BENGALI MAN in Old Dhaka who was telling the bystanders to leave and not crowd around the foreigners who were trying to purchase an umbrella.
