THIS WAS MY LAST PHOTO BEFORE I SCURRIED TO THE HOTEL TO GET READY SO I WOULDN’T MISS THE BUS!

We had to cross on five ferries on our trip down and due to weather, etc. it took us 17 hours.  It’s no wonder there were less tourists than at Cox’s Bazaar, a beach further to the East.

The Best Sunset we saw on this trip.

WE WERE SCHEDULED FOR 4 AM TO LEAVE ON THE MOTORCYCLES TO CATCH THE SUNRISE FURTHER DOWN THE BEACH! We didn’t quite get left on time!  The sunrises and sunsets were a big item in choosing where to go on this TTL Safari.

The name Kuakata originated from the word ‘Kua’-the Bengali word for “Well” which was dug on the sea shore by the early Rakhine settlers in quest of collecting drinking water, who landed on Kuakata coast in the eighteenth century after being expelled from Arakan (Myanmar) by the Mughals.[3]Afterwards, it has become a tradition of digging Well in the neighborhoods of Rakhaine tribes for water.

Kuakata offers a full view of the sunrise and sunset from the same white sandy beach in the water of the Bay of Bengal.

Locally known as Shagor Kannya (Daughter of the Sea), the long strip of dark, marbled sand stretches for about 30 km. The long and wide beach at Kuakata has a typical natural setting. This sandy beach has gentle slopes into the Bay of Bengal. Kuakata is also a sanctuary for migratory winter birds.

Evidence of God’s Handiwork and Artistic Ability!

I TRAVELED TO KUAKATA WITH ALMOST TWENTY PHOTOGRAPHERS. IT WAS THE  BANGLADESH TTL PHOTO CLUB.

Fisherman With His Net!

I couldn’t resist taking another sunset shot at this location.  I’m almost sure I took a shot here three weeks ago and likely a year ago as well. I love this flood plain for sunset photos.
