Day 247

DIPTI AND JAMES PENDER WITH their month old Sophia!  We had a nice visit in their home today.  We are kind of like adopted grandparents since Dustin is like Dipti’s brother!

Day 246

HERE IS A BENGALI MAN MAKING nan ruti.  I ate here this morning and had a piece of this with spicy dal and veggies, as I do 4-6 days a week. This “hotel” is called “Green Hotel.  Sometimes I bring the food home as well.

VEGETABLE STAND IS BEING SET UP FOR THE DAY’S SALES in Town Hall Market, Mohammadpur.

Day 244

TTLER ADDA  AT THE DHANMONDI RABINDRA SHOROBOR.  I found this definition for an adda:  A common place where close friends hangout. Its usually close to the college they attend and generally convenient for the rest of the boys to get there.
Its usually a bakery, Coffee day, restaurant or small shops run by frustrated people or nice people.

For this adda we just hung around the outside ampitheater and chatted, ate chanachur and drank ginger tea.  We sometimes have photo addas where we critique each others photos.

Day 243

ALICE WITH SOME OF HALIM’S NIECES AND FRIENDS on the way to buy some ice cream.  Alice and I had been invited to Halim’s house to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, yesterday.

EID MUBARAK TO ALL MY MUSLIM FRIENDS!  Ramadan is over, and back to a normal eating and sleeping schedule.  Of course this is after a day of celebrating today!  Going to a friend’s house, or inviting someone over for an Eid meal.  A special day with special people and with some special food.  Read more about this holiday at:  http://islam.about.com/od/ramadan/f/eid_fitr.htm
