ALICE, my dear wife examining the flower garden behind our hotel in Thamel, the “Hotel Buddha.”

SANTOSHI, my Nepali daughter! She works at the trekking company that arranged out trek. She is a very fine young lady, who does a wonderful job. It was a pleasure to become acquainted with her. She made sure we were well taken care of. I think she was a little worried about us trekking, though very pleased when she found out we had a wonderful time trekking 4 days in the Anapurna area.

TEA STAND OPERATOR just down the street from our apartment.
Likely no more “daily” posts until we return from Nepal on June 1. See you then!

NOT HAPPY

LADY WALKING
The other morning while walking to Banani I passed this lady. I stopped to take some photos, she passed me, and then I passed her again. After that she never quite caught up with me before I moved on after taking a photo of some street scenes. She must have wondered about this funny American that is so taken up with the Dhaka scenery. I think I took 87 photos on that 1.5 hour walk.

MUSLIM Painter
This fellow told me to wait to take his photo. He stopped painting and reached into his pocket and took out his tupi, saying that he is a Muslim. I then took his photo with the tupi on.

MOTHER’S DAY
We had a nice breakfast at Austin’s on Mother’s Day. Austin fixed baked oatmeal, and some fruit, served with yogurt.

ELECTRICIAN
Sayeed came to install an IPS that was donated by a friend. An IPS builds up charge while the electricity is available and then when electricity shuts down it runs fans and lights etc. With this option the power outages in the middle of a 100 degree day are more bearable since the fans are still running. We went 19 months without one. Finally during this season when we lost our electricity every hour for an hour we hooked up the IPS and battery which generous friends shared with this. Ironically it has been hooked up for a week. Immediately when it was hooked up we had some rains it cooled down for three days, and until today we only had one outage which lasted for an hour.

POTENTIAL WALL ARRANGEMENT
I’m considering this or a similar arrangement for one of the walls of our apartment. Feel free to make comments including recommendations. If I knew how to use this program 🙂 I would have put spaces between each photo and had every other photo up or down. So it goes! Have a great day! I see that the program when posted put spaces between photos! Hurray! Of course then I had too many for one line!

RICKSHAW REPAIRER
This lady sits here almost every day waiting for some rickshaw that needs repairs.

SAD EYES
This beggar was longing for a hand-out.
