I picked up this young lad, his siblings and Mom, to take them home. His young cousin stepped up to the window to talk to me. He asked me what I do at home! It made my day. He was a young fella that I also had as a passenger many times with and without his parents. It made my day that he wanted to chat with the taxi driver. Maybe it helps that I give the children “smarties” when they ride with me!

When I called to schedule a visit at the assisted living facility where my 97-year-old Mother is, they said, “We were just talking about your mother!” At the table during a meal, one of the residents was crying, and my Mother got up out of her chair, went over to the lady and gave her a big hug. Wow, how sweet is that? I had a nice visit with her on the porch. She said, “I would give you a “howdy do” handshake but I think it is against the rules!” LOL

The son, challenges his father!

Birthday Party

The plates had belonged to my wife’s mother! This was a birthday party, we had last week, for our daughter-in-law, Marita.

My daughter-in-law did a great job of preparing this tasty dish. It was for our youngest grandson’s 16th birthday celebration!!

A fusion of Elk meat chunks and a classic North Indian mild curry made with yogurt, tomato paste, ginger, garlic and traditional Indian spices.

As we start this new year, I decided to post a photo from 10 years ago! The photo includes my grandsons on the Chowrasta (mall) riding horses off on the loop where they will see the Kanchenjunga, followed by their Uncle, our son, Dustin. They likely didn’t know what was ahead of them, as we don’t know what all will be ahead of us in 2020.

Kanchenjunga

Darjeeling, India has been an enjoyable vacation spot for us.

Thanks to all who are following my blog. Not sure what 2020 will hold. Likely more of the same as before! I would love feedback, on what kind of posts you enjoy, etc. For me, it is like a journal of our lives, but also a place, where I can showcase some photos. Around 12 years ago, I posted at least one photo daily, for many years, but that hasn’t always happened recently. Looking forward to hearing from some of you. I had thought of posting what I thought were my 12 best photos of 2019, but I had trouble making that decision! If things go as planned, we will be visiting two countries, we have not visited previously.

Christmas Day!

A Bangladeshi Feast

A Bangladeshi feast on Christmas Eve Day— Pilau, Elk Nehari, Chicken Korai, Dhal, Bhaji and Laccha Shemai. (Elk is not a traditional Bangladeshi meat. This meal was prepared by our son, and his wife! It was delicious, as always!

Checking out sibling’s (assumed) purchases, while eating!

My brother and his wife trying to photograph a warbler type bird in the bushes, so later we can identify it!

I used the Sleeklens Starter 5 – Vintage-Dreamy Feeling preset in Lightroom for post-processing.

I decided to travel this road, since I was picking up my my father’s 3rd cousin, who had been taking of her mother, and needed a ride home. Her mother and I both live just off of this route.
