Behind the Wheel Again

It feels different being behind the wheel again, after being used to riding public transportation in Dhaka, Bangladesh for 8 years (Rickshaws, CNGs, buses, taxis, trains, boats, and planes)!  Now I feel more in control of what is happening with my vehicle, though I thoroughly enjoyed letting someone else have that job!

Here I am approaching a horse and buggy (carriage used by the Amish), which is a very common sight in this region of Ohio.

On the right is my Aunt, Frieda Mast. Her daughter, my first cousin is on the left, with her daughter in the center.  I wanted to take a photo of the bird house, but realized that with my wide angle lens, I was going to get more than the bird house in my photo!  It seems obvious my cousin knew what was happening, and my Aunt didn’t care!

A Very Memorable Day in My Life

I met my wife on September 18, 1966 in Harrisonburg, Virginia! After courting for 1,000 days, we were married in 1969. I’d do it again, in a heart beat!!

Thanks, Alice for these 49 memorable years! I guess the first mountain we climbed together was Massanutten in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.

I didn’t post about sibs getting together for the first time in two years.

I didn’t post on my mother’s 92nd birthday.

I didn’t post on 9/11.

I better clean out the cobwebs, because tomorrow is a very special day for me!

I miss Bangladesh.   As I am uploading this, these ladies are chatting with each other on their mobiles! 🙂   Bear with me, if I have uploaded it before! It might just have been put on Facebook.

A nice coincidence for someone who loves photography!  I also have 4 friends who have birthdays on this day, as well as Pres Bill Clinton and Orville Wright! Pres Bill Clinton is 1 year older than I am, and the Orville Wright passed away in January the year I was born! Interesting since, I have around 440 hours with my private pilot’s license! Not sure what Pres Bill Clinton and I have in common besides our birth dates!

My darling wife, Alice took me to Jitter’s Coffee Shop in Millersburg, Ohio. I had a great 20’s Reuben sandwich! Delicious!

Ingredients: Rye Bread, Corned Beef, Sauerkraut, Mayonnaise, and Swiss Cheese!

(Bangla) Katal, the national fruit of Bangladesh!  You either love it or you don’t!

After a morning football (soccer) match they shared this fruit with us. Credits go to my son, Austin for the photo. I had taken my grandson to the field to play football with these guys, trying to get in a few matches before Ramadan started.

The one photo is of me reaching for my “bulb” of Jack Fruit!  It is a species of tree in the mulberry and fig family.
