I met my wife on September 18, 1966 in Harrisonburg, Virginia! After courting for 1,000 days, we were married in 1969. I’d do it again, in a heart beat!!
Thanks, Alice for these 49 memorable years! I guess the first mountain we climbed together was Massanutten in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia.
Soon I’ll be in the land where coffee is the preferred morning hot drink (U.S.A). But until then I will enjoy my morning cup of “Cha (Milk tea with sugar and sweetened condensed milk) while in Bangladesh!” Yum, Yum! I actually had both coffee and cha this morning and I am ready for the day.
I am for sure thankful for my wonderful wife, Alice!!
The First Thanksgiving
How many people really know how Thanksgiving began? I would venture to guess that even most Christians can’t tell you the real story of the first Thanksgiving celebration. The modern day version of Thanksgiving was held in 1621 at the Plymouth Plantation. The pilgrims had a harvest feast after the growing season to give praise to God for his blessings. The pilgrims had plenty of things to complain about. Half of the people had died during the harsh winter of starvation or disease. Despite all of this death and disease, the pilgrims were still thankful and grateful for everything they had. During the early days, the Thanksgiving holiday was celebrated at different times in the different colonies. The annual day of Thanksgiving did not get an official date until the Civil War., when it was instituted by Abraham Lincoln
We’ve been busy with our 45th wedding anniversary, U.S. Flag Day, beginning of the Soccer World Cup, giving visitors a tour of Dhaka, and Mymensingh, and Father’s Day! I decided I need to get on my blog and for sure wish my wife, “A very Happy Birthday! Now she is “older” than I am. For two months I will be glad to do whatever she wants me to!!! 🙂
Here she is the “Pied Piper” in the Bailor Village near Mymensingh!
My dear wife being very patient while I was doing Bird Photography, and many times pointed out birds that I hadn’t seen yet!
Red–billed Leiothrix- Peking Robin-Nightingale- Babbler family-This was one of the birds that sat still long enough for me to get a photograph. I was using a Canon EF 7-300mm zoom lens. It was shot at ISO 1250/150mm/f 5.6 and 1/400th of a second. If I haven’t identified this bird correctly please let me know!
This is my 1800th post, so I decided to give a tribute to my wonderful wife, who has been a faithful supporter of my photography hobby. In fact since I had pulled out my life savings ($55 USD), when we got married in 1969, I couldn’t afford the camera I wanted so she paid for it!! It was a Mamiya/Sekor SLR! She had been working for a year and had some income, so I married “into money!” 🙂 It hasn’t been the last time she has bought me equipment. Thanks, Darling for hanging in there with me!!
No, I didn’t buy these beautiful roses! They were on the table at the Restaurant in Siliguri where we had a snack before catching the bus for our journey back to Bangladesh.
Thanks heaps to my wonderful wife of almost 45 years!
This photo was taken at the top of the Munster cathedral in Switzerland http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basel_Minster.
This is my wife Alice. I trust that you all are looking into the New Year with hope and joy! I pray if it holds pain for some of you that the pain will cause growth in some way.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
