Alice is reading “Bush Flying Captured”  (Photography of Rich Hulina), a gift that was given to my friend by his children.  It was a pleasure to see in the book a photo of the plane I used to fly in NW Ontario. I am not sure if I was a bush pilot or a pilot who flew in the bush!  🙂

Happy Birthday, to our son, Austin

A little belated but still in my thoughts!

Nice scene bringing back memories of childhood!

Using HDR in the image below allowed me to reveal the details of the machinery as well as the colors of the sky.
I shot the image using 14-24mm lens at f/11.

Editors Note: This post builds upon Levi’s earlier post on Starbursts.

When you include the sun in you composition, you have framed a scene with a very high dynamic range–shadows facing you and full sun—so HDR software is ideal for making a picture revealing the whole scene.

The sunrise through the trees and the Canyonlands sunset above are both HDR composites. If not, they would both be silhouettes. Check out Rich and Scott’s excellent book on HDR to learn how it can work for you.

I gotta come clean. That image at the top of this post is not only HDR, but it’s a combination of two HDR images. The…

Rain is so much a part of Bangladesh, I couldn’t resist re-blogging this post.

Cookies with M & M’s in them!

Yummy!

May Peace Prevail on Earth!

With all the hartals, demonstrations and unrest this is a great theme for Bangladesh. This sign is in front of Carzon Hall of Dhaka University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Sunday Post: Doors

What a great theme with great comments! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

Is a door the way in or the way out?  It depends…are you coming or going?

We find many interesting doors in life.

Sometimes we know just what we need…

Other times the choice is not so clear…

Some doors are lovely…

Others scary…

Some are daunting…

It would be nice if we could sneak a peek…

Some doors are difficult to get to…

Still others can be hard to find…

Or best avoided…

But you never can tell which door…

…will open up onto a new friendship…

…or even lead to a loving family.

Which is why we must not be afraid to step out into the sunshine, or forget to invite someone in out of the cold.

Reach for the doorknob….

…..and see what you can find.

I wish a Happy Bengali New Year to All My Friends in Bangladesh!

I confess I was busy getting my income tax report ready to file to meet tomorrow’s deadline. I guess I do have an automatic 2 month extension, but I’d rather not take it.  Anyway, we heard marchers outside on the street, so I headed out and grabbed a rickshaw to catch them on Sir Sayeed Rd.  Then I decided since I was out to go to Manik Mia, so I asked the rickshaw wallah to take me there (http://www.thedailystar.net/beta2/news/nation-mingles-with-baishakh-colours/) .  The lanes on both sides of the median were painted the whole way from Mirpur Rd. to the circle where Manik Mia splits.  It was nice to take a break and see the festive air of the city.  The photo of me was taken by the rickshaw wallah!

I hope this is a great year for Bangladesh in spite of the many hartals, demonstrations, etc. recently.
