Bluebird’s Arrive

I had a bluebird trying to get into my wren house, but couldn’t quite fit! I went out and bought a bluebird house, and then a wren decided to make it it’s home! But the feisty bluebirds returned 3 days later and chased the wrens out and now we have a family of bluebirds in our backyard. We have tried to make our backyard a bird sanctuary! They haven’t yet discovered the birdbath I purchased last week. It was interesting about the bluebirds, since a week ago we celebrated our 51st anniversary, and we have kind of adopted the Browns’ “I heard the Buebirds Sing” song as our theme song, since it is almost verbatim, our love story. Instead of meeting in the hills, we met in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley!!

Also Happy Father’s Day to all the Fathers out there! It is a privilege and an honor to be a Father.

Water from the Rock!

This backyard rock water fountain reminded me of Moses!

Ye Olde Pump

I suspect the pump was used years ago, but not the outhouse!

Garage Sale

Bargains galore!

Loading up and ready for the next location!

Fence Row

Distortion

I decided to photograph what it looked from inside my vehicle during an automatic car wash!

Innovative

With a taxi customer, we stopped to see this unique piece of equipment. We knew he was going to start mowing at 7 am. This talented Amish farmer built this horse-powered hay cutter that cuts a 24 foot swath!

Oak Hill Cemetery

View of cemetery from Port Washington Road

View of Port Washington Road as it climbs the hill. It is hard to visualize, but it is in the opening in the trees passing beside the farm buildings with the white fence. My wife loves to walk in this cemetery, and when possible, I join her, as I did this morning!

April Wedding in June

This wedding was originally scheduled for April, but changed so they could have more guests.

Note the tables and lights for the reception in the barn, as well as the tent, to help with social distancing. The wedding is actually 1/2 mile up the road!

The scene I had after dropping off my taxi customers at the wedding. More guests: Arriving by buggy, bike and vehicle!

Ayrshire

This title will need an explanation for most people, but probably not for most people who speak the Pennsylvania Dutch dialect of German.

An Ayrshire is a breed of dairy cattle that originated from Ayrshire in Southwest Scotland before 1800. In Pennsylvania Dutch “shiah” or loosely pronounced shire means, barn. Therefore since this old barn is letting lots of air through it is called an Ayrshire (airbarn), connecting the English and Pennsylvania Dutch to get the name of a farm animal. I suspect this would be considered a “meme!”

One Step at a Time

I had several taxi runs today, taking ladies garage sale-ing! I am assuming they found some bargains. I bought a saw for myself, and a fidget-spinner for my 96 year-old-mother!
